Hazel - Adopted! Hazel has landed a dream home with one of our very own LTR families. She fell in love with them instantly and who can blame her? She even has a doggy sibling from LTR. We’re so happy for the whole family, especially Hazel. * * * Our sweet Hazel is back with us. Hazel originally came to us by way of the Rohnert Park shelter, where she wasn’t thriving. They did so much for her - including sending her to us - and she did gtreat in foster care. She was heavily matted so they shaved her hair off and we’re all very excited to see what she looks like when she’s fluffy! At the moment, she resembles a statuesque mini greyhound or a whippet. We estimate her to be about 3 years old and 8 pounds. She’s getting well house-trained and is in love with her foster mom. Hazel bonds quickly, despite her shy disposition. She was shutdown in the shelter but is now really coming out of her shell. She sticks by her foster mom when they visit and she’s an absolute angel. We've learned a little more about Hazel; for example, she's not fond of kids or crates. But she’s a very sweet, easy dog to have around, and will definitely be the love of someone’s life. That’s our goal for this very special little dog. She gets along well with other dogs but prefers the company of adult humans.

Backwoods Barbie - Adopted! They love her already and who can blame them? Backwoods Barbie has the sweetest personality and the coolest mix of breeds. Whatever she is, she looks like a teacup blue-eyed wolf cub/chihuahua. She loves to snuggle with her wonderful new human parents and is currently wrapping them around her little tiny wolf paws. We love you BW Barbie! * * * Miraculously, Barbie was found in an orchard with her two sisters at barely 6 weeks of age. They must not have been there long before they were discovered and we are endlessly grateful to their rescuers. All puppies are sweet, but these ones are extra. Backwoods Barbie has a very playful spirit and lots of energy, but she’s also on the soulful side. She loves to wrestle with her bigger sister Dolly and she can be quite dramatic at times. We have no idea who their parents are but we estimate they will be about 10 pounds full grown. At about 7 to 8 weeks they are just 3 1/2 pounds. Barbie will see an ophthalmologist very soon to get a better understanding of why her eyes are whitish blue. Her vision seems to be just fine. She’s got the most gorgeous coloring behind her ears and on her back, almost like a dark wolf coat. We think she’ll have medium length hair when she grows up. If her eyes stay this color, she will be the most majestic looking creature. A little tiny Chihuahua wolf. Puppies require a high level of physical stamina on the part of the adopter for training, frequent housebreaking, managing intense energy levels, and yes, often, running after them. Additionally, because dogs under one year of age have a potential lifespan of 12 to 15+ years, we look closely at the long-term lifestyle match over the course of the puppy's lifetime.

Rosé - Adopted! Rośe is off on a leap of faith. Her new mom could not hold her just yet but we are pretty certain this match will stick. Sometimes it takes a special person to see beyond the trauma and the worry in the hearts and minds of little troopers. Soon Rośe will trust and love her new mom and the trauma of her past will go back where it belongs. We removed two large tumors and all of her rotten teeth so her future is bright. We miss you already little Rośe! * * * This little doll has been through it, to say the least. Rosé has spent a good portion of her six years with a giant tumor hanging from her belly. A very hard and painful tumor. She also has severe dental disease which we are addressing and will be fixed before she goes home. Rosé is a very sweet dog but she’s used to being in a lot of pain so she requires a gentle hand. She’s barely 6 pounds so she’s just a tiny thing. She loves to be outside and even picked up a toy for the very first time after we removed the tumor. She would do best in a home with a yard to begin with because training her to wear a harness may take a little bit of time. She’s still protective of her belly because she’s been in pain for so long. We anticipate this will change soon. She has already offered her belly for scratches and shows interest in playing. She’s a very sweet dog who seems to be well housebroken and sleeps peacefully all night in a warm dog bed next to her Foster Mom’s bed.

Mr. Burrito This guy is one of the most unique and interesting little dogs we’ve had in a long time and his paws barely hit the ground here at LTR. One Facebook post is all it took for this little potato tank to land his sweet forever home. He has some older K9 sisters to care for him and an adoring human mama. Lots of people were interested but we knew this was a bond that was written in the sky. We feel lucky to have been part of this adorable little love connection.

Daisy - Adopted! Second time’s a charm for this little ray of sunshine. Daisy has found her forever home, finally. We could not be happier for this adorable new family. Sometimes placements don’t work and that’s okay, we try again until we get it right.  We love you Daisy! (Here she is with a couple members of her new tribe) * * * Just a gorgeous young dog with a lot of love to give, Daisy is slightly under 7 months old and was recently returned to us because she was too much for their older dog. She’s only about 8 pounds and does not shed. Daisy is still a puppy and loves to play with the young pups in our shelter so she would do best in a home with another active dog. She loves walks, trips to the beach and cuddling in your lap. She does really well in the car and out in public. We need to get it right this time around for little Daisy. She’s trained and ready to bond for life. She’s kinda perfect.

Dolly - Adopted! It’s another happy day at LTR! Our gorgeous little Dolly has left the building for her new life with her new parents. We’re so happy for this perfect little bundle of joy. * * * This baby arrived on the day of Dolly Parton’s passing, so we figured this name was perfect. Like her namesake, she’s a strong beautiful force. Dolly outweighs her siblings by a half pound. She’s a round ball of adorable fluff, and fury. She’s playful and entertaining. Her markings are stunning. We asked AI what breeds she might be and it said she’s a Siberian husky mixed with black lab. This is completely false because she’s only 3.5 pounds at 7/8 weeks. She’s definitely a Chihuahua mix, but we don’t know anything about her parents. Dolly was abandoned in an orchard with her two sisters. She has one blue eye so there might be some husky in her family tree, but she will most likely be 10 pounds or under. She’s a special one. Mimi - Adopted! Mimi had a tough start in life but she was rescued just in time. The stars had much better plans for this little girl. She scored the best home possible and we are thrilled beyond compare. * * * This cutie was taken from a precarious situation where she and her two puppy friends were being severely neglected, to the point where they were in great danger. It doesn’t seem like they were abused outside of the neglect so they’re super sweet and have been great with the humans and other dogs at LTR. Mimi is about 13 pounds and we think she’s around 1.5 years old. She’s very smart and loves to be with her humans. At first she had separation anxiety but once she learned that we always come back, she stopped crying when left in the shelter. She is very eager to please and charming. If Mimi's underbite, north-facing snaggletooth and fluffy ears don’t steal your heart, her personality surely will.

Petey - Adopted! Another magical adoption at Little Trooper Ranch! We are so over the moon thrilled for little Petey. He’s so shy and nervous about the world, so this is the perfect home for him. Petey is going to live with another little trooper who lucked out and won the LTR lottery a year ago. We know Petey will come out of his shell in the loving care of this wonderful family. * * * Gorgeous little Petey was spotted alone in a remote orchard in the Central Valley, far from towns or homes. His wonderful rescuer sent a trapper to get him. He was matted, scared, hungry and thirsty. We guess him to be about 5 or 6 years old and he’s a little guy, just 8 pounds. He wags his tail when we enter the shelter but he’s nervous to ask for affection. Petey will need a patient loving home with a secure backyard. No exceptions; he needs to be where he can gain confidence at his own pace. We can pet him and pick him up, but it requires some time and a slow, gentle touch. BUT....!! Petey is worth it. He’s very sweet and he gets along well with the other dogs. He loves to sunbathe and he follows us around in the shelter courtyard. Petey needs love and patience. Experienced homes preferred.

Travis - Adopted! We’ve said it before and we're sure we will say it again but some things are written in the stars. Travis was instantly drawn to his new dad. It’s like he knew him already. He definitely knew he wanted to go home with him. We’re so grateful for both of them.
