Puffin - Adopted! Puffin’s story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. (But wonderful from here on out) We don’t know what circumstances led to his neglect, we seldom know. We do know that it didn’t even dampen his expansive spirit. His blindness doesn’t slow him down one bit and he has nothing but love for absolutely everyone. We’ll tell you more about Puffin this soon (check social media) but he is in the most loving home imaginable. It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving angel.

Luna Bijon - Adopted! Sometimes it takes a while for these little souls to find their safe place in the world. We think Luna found her forever home today. She will have two loving humans and a K9 sister to love her and keep her company for the rest of her days. * * * This precious 10-ish-year-old girl is coming back to us after 6 months, so we are looking for a serious, committed home. She loves all humans, loves car rides, and she greets other dogs with a wagging tail. Along with having only two teeth (after we did an extensive dental to remove her lifetime of neglect), Luna has zero aggression towards anyone. She even cohabitates well with a cat! She sleeps well in an open crate, she hardly barks, and is very calm and well-behaved in the car. Perhaps because of her age, she has a little bit of separation anxiety. We don't know how many homes she's had; this could also be a factor. We are searching for a person who can be with her most of the time during her senior years. She deserves to feel safe, secure, loved, and treasured, especially at this point in her little life. Luna is 15 pounds of loving devotion. She's also food-motivated, which is a great thing in our world. This means she'll be easy to medicate and train. She's 95% housebroken when her humans are paying attention to her needs. Finally, we must be shallow for a moment because she is a stunning little creature. She can be groomed to look like a pom pom or left shaggy to look like a muppet. Either way, she's gorgeous and worthy of your love.

Ernie - Adopted! Ernie has a home of his own!!!! We are over the moon for this deserving little man. It took a while. Feels like we climbed a mountain and crossed an ocean to arrive in this happy place but we made it and Ernie has the wonderful home he deserves. Mission accomplished! * * * He is Ivy League. He is Olympic gold. Ernie might actually be Banksy. Ernie is Gavin Newsom level gorgeous. Ernie is John Lennon and Jane Goodall. Ernie is carbon fiber. Ernie is apple pie. 🥰 Ernie is barely an adult but he’s full grown and is 12 pounds. Hopefully we’ve conveyed how amazing he is. He’s super intelligent and eager to learn. He’ll need some basic training but it won’t take long with this gorgeous little guy! If you would like to adopt Ernie, please first review our " Before You Adopt " page and then complete the Adoption Application which can be found here .

Charlie Bear - Adopted! Yay for Charlie Bear! He’s the first of his litter to leave the building and the coolest part of the story is that he will be cousins with recently adopted Marley! They were friends at LTR and now they are family, forever. Another happy day in dog rescue. * * * How do we even begin to describe this wee bundle of low-riding fluff? He has to be seen to be believed. His mama was 30 pounds but we don’t know anything about the dad. Charlie was among the 4 smaller pups in the littler so we expect he will be smaller than his mom. He’s 5 pounds at 8 weeks. He carries his chubby self around on the stubbiest little legs, it’s so adorable. Charlie Bear is a low rider with a penchant for digging holes to sleep inside. He plays half as much as his sisters. They keep busy exploring and running while he sleeps in the dirt. He’s more of a spectator than a player but he is a puppy so he definitely likes to play... but he’s mostly just a teddy bear. He’s truly amazing and stunning.

Wally - Adopted! Wally is officially home! We’re so thrilled for this gorgeous deserving little puppy and his wonderful new mamas! *** *** This boy's story is kinda tragic but we’re flipping the script for this precious pink and white little puppy. Wally’s mom died from rat poison and then he was being given away at a Walmart. We’re unsure how the universe does its thing but we’re taking it from here. He’s only 6 weeks old and is just under 3 pounds. He’s teeny. We expect him to stay at or below 10 pounds. He is pure love.

Cameron - Adopted! One more happy little puppy has found her forever home. We know Cameron will bring her joyful adorable spirit everywhere she goes with her new papa and grandpa. * * * At just 4 pounds and almost 8 weeks old, Cameron's mama was a long-haired black fluffball. This is all we know about her humble beginnings in the Central Valley but we are here to create her fabulous future! We’re not sure if her ears will stay floppy but we are sure that she is solid gold and perfect in every way. Her favorite things to do are play and sleep. Her hair is medium fluff and her personality is large love-bug.

Professor Stanford - Adopted! The professor has graduated! We are so proud and thrilled for this deserving little scholar. He was tested by neglect and abandonment but this little trooper never gave up and he never became bitter or angry. He has only love to offer. This is why we are extra excited about his future with the most wonderful humans. From dumped at the shelter to the top of his class to happily ever after. The world is your oyster Stanford! As it should be. *** *** We are so proud to present Stanford to the world. We found this spunky long haired chihuahua at a shelter in Fresno. He’s only 8 pounds but his personality is huge. He’s confident, housebroken (we believe), friendly and easy going. He loves to be held, to go for walks and to enjoy everything life has to offer. The poor guy had been living with severe dental disease which we fixed at one of our recent clinics. We estimate his age to be around 8-10 years. In summary, Stanford is a gorgeous friend who deserves an amazing life.

Marley - Adopted! It has been an honor to write the second half of this little man’s story. He has been through so much, including a full mouth extraction. Although he has no teeth left, Marley’s life will forever be better because of our incredible team. He was dying and we brought him back to life. We built him up, found him a wonderful home and provided much-needed medical care. His mouth was rotting and infected from poor diet and lack of proper care but those days are over for this deserving little trooper. He is loved and will forever be warm inside his new home. *** *** If you follow us on social media, you know about Marley. This tiny 7 pound angel lived inside for 6 years and then was forced to live outside, alone in a cage for 3 years. (He’s 9 years old) He was being tortured by fleas and starved by the worms caused by the fleas. His people reached out to us for help and he was at LTR a few hours later. Since he was living outside in Lake County, we feared heartworm. He was dying when we got him. His bloodwork was scary but luckily it was just severe anemia. Once we got the flea damage, itchiness and worms under control, he improved quickly. His hair is growing back, he’s gaining weight and he’s loving being loved again. Marley needs to sleep with his humans; he loves car rides and he’s definitely a lap dog. We’re still rebuilding this little survivor but in the meantime, he’s ready for his very own home. Once he’s strong enough, we can neuter him and clean his teeth. Proper nutrition and oodles of love are working wonders for this wonderful little dog. We’re so lucky to be the once who get to help him.

Bambi - Adopted! Bambi's story is short and sweet, just like she is! We're not sure why she ended up in a dead-end shelter, but she did. Meanwhile, we were up north doing our thing at Little Trooper Ranch. One of these things was a mission to find a tiny brown female chihuahua for one of our wonderful friends and adopters. She waited patiently for over a year, and then, magically, one day, Bambi came across our desk. We said yes and sent a plane. Not just any plane, in fact. Our favorite local newscaster, Ken Wayne flew back with Bambi on his lap. She was actually a last-minute addition to a flight he was already doing for another rescue. She was looking out the front window of the plane when they landed at our little Petaluma airport.. She wasn't afraid; she was on the greatest adventure of her life. He also had the other lucky dog in the backseat, looking out the window like he was on a Sunday drive. It was the sweetest scene. Her new mom met us just moments after we arrived back at the ranch with our teeny little traveler. Bambi pranced into her new car and off she went. Mission accomplished.

Carmela - Adopted! Another amazing miracle at LTR. Carmela has found the home of her dreams and they have found their adorable new family member. Thank you foster mom Nancy Hair for aligning the stars for this perfect adoption. We love you Carmela! *** *** This adorable little sweetheart came to us from our friends at Fresno Humane. Carmela was picked up as a stray; she’s only 8 pounds and is less than 2 years old - but her personality is massive . She loves everyone and everything. The world is an adventure for this fox look-a-like. Carmela had never seen stairs or the inside of a home as far as we can tell, but it only takes a minute for this girl to navigate new situations. Her bark is as big as her personality but luckily she doesn’t use it much. She cries for a few minutes when the humans leave the shelter but it’s really just 3 or 4 minutes. Carmela has a cherry eye and an umbilical hernia which we will fix when we spay her and then she will be absolute perfection.
